MADD Victim Impact Panels
Understanding the real consequences of impaired driving is a critical step in your journey. Victim Impact Panels help DUI offenders hear directly from those whose lives were changed forever.

What is a Victim Impact Panel?
Mothers Against Drunk Driving's (MADD) Victim Impact Panelยฎ program brings together the criminal justice system and those directly or indirectly affected by drunk and drugged driving crashes.
During the panel, speakers describe the crash in which they or their loved ones were involved, and how life has changed since. They do not blame or judge the audience โ they simply share their personal experiences.
The program follows a restorative justice model, allowing crime victims a healing opportunity while helping offenders understand that drunk driving is a choice that impacts the lives of innocent people โ and that the tragic outcomes are 100% preventable.
Who Speaks?
Bereaved or injured victims, victim families, first responders, and substance abuse/treatment representatives.
Restorative Justice
VIPs are not intended to replace conventional sanctions. They supplement existing programs by placing offenders face to face with real people whose lives were permanently changed.
Healing for Victims
Panels provide victims with a meaningful opportunity to share their stories, contributing to their own healing process while educating others.
